The ECM3 is designed to control multiple SmarAct positioning systems such as SMARPODs and TRIPODs. The ECM3 rack module is compatible with the SmarAct MCS2 rack and can be used in one MCS2 rack housing together with up to four MCS2 driver modules. This enables the control of two positioning systems with up to six axes or up to four positioning systems with three axes. Additional positioning systems can be integrated by connecting the ECM3 to other rack units. The ECM3 command language allows the configuration and control of all connected systems. As this is a purely text-based command language, no programming libraries or drivers are required on the controlling computer. The ECM3 provides a network and a serial port for receiving commands and three USB ports. MCS2 controllers can be connected to the ECM3 via network or USB.
