SmarAct’s Precision Systems Enable Reliable Fiber Array Assembly

In fiber handling and array assembly, precise alignment is essential to minimize optical losses and ensure long-term performance.
SmarAct’s advanced positioning systems offer nanometer precision and stability for demanding microassembly tasks,
supporting the growing need for compact photonic systems in telecommunications, sensing, and quantum technologies.

Using a SmarAct Gantry System with SmarShift X and Z axes and a dedicated fiber handling head, optical fibers and wires can be picked, positioned, and rotated with high precision.
The fiber head, built on SmarSlide stages, enables dual-point gripping, iterative tilting, and 180° rotation of the fiber.
At the base, the v-groove array is positioned along the Y-axis and actively aligned using a SmarFlex scanner for optimal coupling efficiency.
